Become an Amazon Product Reviewer with Tomoson

Become an Amazon Product Reviewer - BorrowedBlessings.net

I recently shared with a group of frugal friends that I am an Amazon product reviewer and they wanted the inside scoop.  Last year when we bought our house, I started contacting companies directly on Amazon.  I offered to write a review of their product on Amazon and on my blog… in exchange, they would provide me with the item free of charge.  Several companies wanted me to review their products {you can read my surprised post on that here}.  Sometime last fall, I figured there had to be a better way for Amazon sellers and reviewers to connect… lo and behold, there is!  There are actually several ways to connect with Amazon companies to start writing reviews.

I have used a few sites to connect with Amazon sellers wanting reviews, but the main site I use is Tomoson.  This website hosts hundreds {if not thousands} of Amazon products that sellers want reviewed.  Some of the products are free for writing the review, some are discounted, and there are times when a company will even pay you to write a review!  The paid reviews are most often blog posts.  It is my understanding that Amazon prohibits paid reviews.  Sellers can also note whether they want their product reviewed only on Amazon or also on other platforms {your Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (works good when the seller wants to buy YouTube views fast and so get promoted too), Twitter or blog}.  I believe you have to have a blog to be eligible to use Tomoson… but you don’t have to review products on your blog.

You can apply for a Tomoson account here.  On Tomoson, the Dashboard is sort of your personal product page.  It’ll display all the reviews you’ve applied for, any reviews you’ve been assigned and how many days you have left to review the products.

REVIEWING A PRODUCT WITH TOMOSON

  1. Apply for product review

Click on “Find Products” at the top of the page.  Make sure you check the box that says “Only show promotions I qualify for”.  No sense in wasting your time reading about a product that is only for reviewers from Canada.

  1. Congrats! You’re accepted.

Once a company accepts your application, you’ll get an email with a promo code.  Copy this promo code, then use the product link to go to Amazon.  Add the product to your cart in Amazon then paste the promo code during the checkout process.  Make sure to use the promo code quickly once you get it.  Promo codes typically expire in 24-48 hours.

  1. Review the product

This might be the most important step!  Amazon needs honest reviews from people that actually know if the product does what it says it will.  Are you reviewing a dog leash?  Take your dog for a walk.  Is it a phone charger?  Charge your phone.  You should be reviewing the product.

  1. Write the review

Make sure to write the review in a timely fashion.  Amazon checks every review.  I’ve had it take up to a day for my review to be accepted or rejected.  Once your review is checked, you’ll receive an email a few hours {up to a day} later saying your Amazon review was either accepted or rejected.  If your review was rejected, try again.  Add more detail about the actual product {not about shipping, packaging, the seller, etc}.  If you’re including photos {which you should}, make sure you crop out background mess and rotate the photos the right direction.  Amazon sometimes uploads the photos turned sideways, so keep an eye on that.

  1. Verify the review

Once the review is accepted by Amazon, make sure to glance it over and triple check everything.  On the review {usually towards the bottom}, there is a button that says permalink.  Right click that, then click “copy link address”.  Go back to your Tomoson dashboard, then click verify and paste the permalink.

If you have any more questions about Tomoson, check out their FAQ page here: https://www.tomoson.com/people/faq-and-support.  You can also post any questions for me in the comments.  I’m happy to help!

When I first registered on Tomoson, I applied for several reviews but didn’t get any.  Once I did one review for a discounted price product {ie I still paid some for the product}, I got many more accepted applications.  It took that first discounted price review for me to get my foot in the door with Tomoson companies though.  I now review several products per week on Amazon.  Occasionally I’ll agree to feature a product on my social media platforms, but I typically choose Amazon only reviews… I don’t want to spam my followers with product suggestions all the time.

Another Amazon review site I’ve used is AmzReviewTrader.  It is much less professionally built than Tomoson and is only for Amazon reviews.  I’ve only done a handful of reviews through AmzReviewTrader, but it is a legitimate site… It’s just more difficult to navigate than Tomoson.

The most important piece of advice I have is to be serious about your Amazon reviews.  You need to be consistent, honest and thorough when reviewing products.  Your future ability to receive more product reviews is heavily based on your current performance.  Be honest, be quirky and be fun with your Amazon reviews… write what you would want to know about a product.

Happy reviewing!  If you have any questions, please reach out in the comments below.  You can share this post with your Amazon product loving friends below and follow Borrowed Blessings at the top of the page.  Thank you!
