Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Rockin’ Tunes

Our church used Group Publishing’s “Cave Quest” VBS curriculum this summer.  I’ve shared many of our projects, but you may be missing out on a big picture idea of how our spaces looked.  This room was proof that you don’t have to spend a lot of time or money to make VBS special for the kids!  Here’s how we decorated a super simple music area.

Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures – a lot of them are from my cell phone {I’m not sure why my sleep-deprived VBS directing self wasn’t more concerned with taking good pictures! hahaha}.  I’ve listed the supplies below some of the photos, but you can click on the project links for in-depth instructions and more photos.

This is our kids’ main area.  We have classrooms for small groups, but large group activities are held here on Sundays and Wednesdays.  We’re blessed to have gotten an awesome new projector and screen in the last year or so!  The large bulletin boards at the sides of the projector screen are decorated monthly with our theme decorations.  The bulletin boards are reversible, so I started decorating the backs the week before VBS… our music team added some more decorations right before VBS, but this was a great head start!

Bulletin boards:
Disposable table cover
Bulletin board set
Staple gun

All of the stations got a laminated sign so VBS kiddos could easily find their way.  You can also see the nightly schedule at the top right corner of the bulletin board.

Laminated chalk marker signs:
Black cardstock {8.5”x11”}
Chalk markers
Laminating sheets
Laminating machine

I changed the chair setup slightly to eliminate the back row and contain the kiddos more! 🙂

Our music team added some more decorations after this, but the music area doesn’t need a ton.  The kids always LOVE singing and dancing, so that is definitely the focus!
