DIY Bible Verse Buddies – Maker Fun Factory VBS

Group sells Bible Buddies, but I would rather spend our money elsewhere, so I designed DIY Bible Verse Buddies!  They’re cost-effective and super easy to make.  You could choose to hand out DIY Bible Buddies that either have the bible verses on them or the daily bible point.  These have the bible verse on them.  I’ll share some later this week that have the daily bible point on them.

Materials

Bible Verse Buddy prints
Paper cutter
Laminator
Laminating sheets
Handheld hole punch
Carabiner key ring

Directions

  1. Order Bible Verse Buddy prints.  You can download the Bible Verse Buddy graphics below.  To save these images, just click on each one.  The VBS postcards will open in a new window, then you can right click and choose “Save image as…”.  You can then order prints.  There are four of each verse on one 4×6 print, so this is a super economical project!
  2. Cut prints into individual Bible Verse Buddies. There are four of each Bible Verse Buddy on a sheet, so you’ll want to use a paper cutter to quickly cut them.
  3. Laminate Bible Verse Buddies. If you want the Bible Verse Buddies to last longer, you can laminate them.  You can get a laminator and laminating sheets on Amazon.  I have one – it’s affordable and super easy to use!  After you laminate the Bible Verse Buddies, use the paper cutter to cut them out.
  4. Hole punch Bible Verse Buddies.  Use a handheld hole punch – I put the hole in the top right of each buddy, but you could put it in any corner.
  5. Hand out Bible Verse Buddies.  Each day at VBS, give kids the key verse of the day.  The first day of VBS, give them a carabiner with a key ring on it to hold the Bible Verse Buddies.  {The best price I’ve been able to find on these is through Oriental Trading.  Make sure you use ebates to get cash back – I’ve gotten several hundred dollars back over a few years using this site!}

You could print these as photos, postcards or on your own printer.  I printed ours as photos through Amazon because it was the most cost-effective option for us.  Yep, Amazon is now offering photo printing services!  Click here to go to the Amazon printing site.  Shipping is free for prime members.

I love designing graphics using the Group clip art, and am even more excited when we can print these materials on a penny-pinching budget!  If you would like me to personalize the bible point graphics or other VBS materials for you, please email me.  I am happy to help and any proceeds will keep BorrowedBlessings running!  If you’re going to share online, please link to this blog post.

In case you haven’t already heard, this year’s VBS theme from Group Publishing is Maker Fun Factory {read more about the basics here}.  The VBS kits are now available for purchase and I HIGHLY suggest getting the ultimate starter kit that includes a digital copy of all the materials on a USB drive.

I am a long-time Vacation Bible School lover.  I’ve lead in several capacities throughout the VBS world and am currently our church’s VBS director.  It is a joy for me to be able to share VBS ideas and resources with others!  I will continue to share VBS ideas here as we prepare for Maker Fun Factory.  Follow the blog to see more of our ideas and planning!  Please let me know if there are any specific VBS items or ideas you need help with!

Hi Kara. I’m a VBS director using Group for the first time with the Maker Fun Factory theme this year. I love your cost effective ideas here. I have several questions for you and was trying to see what is the best way to contact you.

Hi! I’m just finding this post as we’re using an old VBS (Babylon). Would love to make these for our week! I’ve created the verses, but can’t figure out how to put 4 on one print! What did you use to create them?

    Thanks so much!
