Roar VBS: “Wild About Jesus” Giraffe Fingerprint Craft

Lions and zebras and elephants, oh my… Roar VBS is quickly approaching!  This safari-themed VBS is sure to be an adventure your kiddos will remember.

These super simple and budget-friendly “Wild About Jesus” fingerprint giraffes are ADORABLE! They’d be perfect either as a craft at VBS or as an activity before VBS (which will give you some decorations to use at VBS and will get kids excited about VBS).

Baby wipes

Instructions (for preschool or elementary kids):

  1. Print “Wild About Jesus” templates on tan card stock paper (I used tan copy paper for the sample, just because I had it on hand already. It would be nice to use card stock paper for durability.)
  2. Let the kids use dark colored stamp pads to stamp fingerprints inside the outline of the giraffe.
  3. Once they’re finished adding spots to their giraffes, let the kids clean the ink off their fingers using a baby wipe.

Supplies (for toddler kids):

Tan copy paper
Dark colored stamp pad(s)
Baby wipes
Scissors
School glue
Construction paper

Instructions (for toddler kids):

I did this test craft with my 2 year old. She enjoyed stamping her fingerprints on the giraffe, but she didn’t always stay inside the lines. Thus, if I were doing this with all of our nursery/toddler kiddos, I’d plan to cut out the giraffe after they stamped fingerprints on it and glue the giraffe to another sheet of paper.

  1. Print giraffe outlines on tan copy paper.
  2. Let the kids use dark colored stamp pads to stamp their fingerprints on the giraffe… the goal is to get lots of spots inside the giraffe outline, but don’t worry if they’re all over the page!
  3. Once kids are finished stamping spots, clean their hands with a baby wipe.
  4. Cut out the giraffe with fingerprint spots on it.
  5. Glue the giraffe with fingerprint spots onto a piece of colored construction paper.
  6. Write “Wild About Jesus” on the construction paper using markers.
