Roar VBS Decorating: Snack

We typically use very simple decorations for our snack area. Check out these fast, frugal ideas for decorating your Roar VBS snack station!

Our snack area is in the Fellowship Hall (which is also the room where story happens). Since we follow Group’s suggestion of doing snack all at once in the middle of the evening, these two activities can easily share the same large room.

The snack tables were each covered with large kraft paper. Each table had an animal centerpiece (see up-close photo below), as well as animal print napkins (I found ours on clearance but here are some similar ones). The photo above is a screenshot from our decorating walk-through video.

Each table’s centerpiece was constructed of a bamboo mat (the kind you roll sushi with) and a few animals. I decided to order high-quality animals because they were so much nicer, but you could also use smaller, less expensive animals.

Depending on what is being served for snack each evening, the snack crew (adult volunteers) would either sit the snack on each table or set it up on our large serving tables and the kids would come up to choose one. We decorated the long serving tables with extra pieces of our paper hut roof.

We have a long blank wall in the Fellowship Hall that the story crew wasn’t using. I hung an animal print tablecloth (cut in half long ways) and hung one of our paper animal garlands on top.

The other end of the same wall was decorated with bible verses printed on cardstock paper and some leftover decorations from the bulletin board set.

The doorway from snack out to the foyer was decorated with more of the paper hut roof strips.
