Roar VBS: Tribal Printed Poster Board Letters

These ROAR tribal printed poster board letters are a quick, frugal way to add a splash of color and pattern to your Roar VBS decor! Every year, we decorate one wall of our church foyer with VBS advertising materials (volunteer sign up, kid’s registration and general information to get people excited for VBS). The tribal printed posterboard letters were easy and affordable for our volunteers to create and I’m so excited for the fun they’re going to bring to our VBS advertising wall!

This was one of several projects our volunteers completed at our Roar VBS Prep Party. This is the third year we’ve had a Prep Party and it helps SO MUCH to get a head start on VBS and reduce the workload on me. You can read more about our Roar VBS Prep Party or how to plan your own VBS Prep Party.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  • Print sample tribal patterns (see a few ideas below) to get your creativity flowing.
  • Write one hollow letter of ROAR on each sheet of posterboard. (I freehanded these, but you could trace them using a projector if you’re not comfortable freehanding.) I also made a 5th posterboard that had all 4 letters on one sheet (so they’re much smaller).
  • Use various widths of large permanent markers to draw tribal prints on your large sheets of paper. Our team used chisel tip and king size Sharpies.
  • Cut out the decorated letters.
