Roar VBS: Volunteer Recruitment Giraffe

I recently shared our Roar VBS 3D Giraffe. This life-size guy (about 7.5 feet tall) is already a hit with everyone who sees him! My original plan was for the giraffe to be in our photo booth during VBS week. However, as I was looking for volunteer recruitment ideas, I found a punny idea and knew our giraffe would be PERFECT for this as well!

Supplies:

Instructions:

  • Build your 3D giraffe.
  • Cut out more spots to add to your giraffe from light brown construction paper.
  • Write a volunteer job on each of the new spots you just cut out.
  • Attach the spots to your giraffe with scotch tape. Depending on how many spots your giraffe already has, you can put these on top of existing spots or fill in blank spots on your giraffe. Keep in mind: If your giraffe is going to be used for volunteer recruitment AND as decor during VBS (like ours is), you’re going to want the spots with volunteer jobs on them to be removable once you’re finished with volunteer recruitment. Thus, I wouldn’t use too much tape on these spots!
  • Make a poster board to hang beside your giraffe for volunteer recruitment. I’m a fan of puns, so our poster board says “There’s a SPOT for you at VBS!”. We made our poster board using chisel tip and king size Sharpies.
