Supplies:
Printable giant tic-tac-toe game
Card stock paper
Laminating machine (you could use a standard size machine, but I suggest ordering the 13″ wide machine because it can handle larger projects too.)
Laminating sleeves
Black marker
Velcro dots
Cardboard display board
Yard stick
Jumbo ziploc bag

Instructions:

Download the printable giant tic-tac-toe game. It’s included with bundle of printable Rocky Railway VBS games!

Print 5 copies of each tic-tac-toe piece (I was born to be bold & I was born to have hope) on card stock paper.

Laminate the 10 tic-tac-toe trains.

Get a display board (36″ tall x 48″ wide). The left flap will be for the title of your game (Tic-Tac-Toe). You could decorate it with a train theme, or keep it generic tic-tac-toe to re-use the game board with other themes!

Close one flap of the display board. The other flap should now be a straight line down the center of the board. Use a thick black marker to make this vertical line. Draw another vertical line in the seam of the board between the main section and the right flap. You should now have 3 equal columns.

Use the yard stick to measure your horizontal sections. Divide the board into 3 equal sections (each one 12″ tall). Draw a black line across the main section of the board and the right flap for both of these horizontal dividers.

You should now have the left flap of the display board with your game title, plus 9 squares total on the middle and right flaps for your tic-tac-toe board.

Stick a velcro dot in each of the 9 game board squares (I’d suggest putting the scratchy side of the velcro on the board). The velcro dot should be centered and toward the top of each box.

Stick a velcro dot on the back side of each train piece (I’d suggest putting the fuzzy size of the velcro on the playing pieces). The velcro dot should be centered on the page and toward the top.

Store the 10 game pieces in a jumbo Ziploc bag until it’s time to play. The game is played just like regular tic-tac-toe: each player/team takes a turn and the first player/team to get 3 of their trains in a row wins!

This would be a fun activity to have in your snack room! (Crews could play a game before they got snack or after they were finished.) It would also be fun in the Imagination Station/craft area for kids who finish those activities early.
