Shipwrecked VBS Bible Buddies (Free Templates!)

Group sells Bible Buddies, but I would rather spend our money elsewhere, so I designed DIY Bible Buddies!  They’re cost-effective and super easy to make.

This year’s VBS theme is Shipwrecked {learn more about the theme here}.  The VBS kits are available now.  All of our VBS resources are designed to be used alongside any of the Group starter kits, although I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the ultimate version with digital.

Materials

Bible Buddies (printed as business cards)
Optional: Laminator
Optional: Laminating sheets
Handheld hole punch
Carabiner key ring

Instructions

1. Order Bible Buddies.  You can download the Bible Buddy graphics below.  To save these images, just click on each one.  The Bible Buddy will open in a new window, then you can right click and choose “Save image as…”.  You can then order business cards with the design you prefer.  You can choose 1-sided business cards with just the bible point and bible verse, or you can print 2-sided business cards with the bible buddy animal and fun fact on the back.
2. Optional: Laminate Bible Verse Buddies. If you want the Bible Buddies to last longer, you can laminate them.  You can purchase a laminator and laminating sheets on Amazon.  I have one of these laminators – it’s affordable and super easy to use!
3. Hole punch Bible Verse Buddies.  Use a handheld hole punch – I put the hole in the top right of each buddy, but you could put it in any corner.  This is a great project to send home with a VBS volunteer!
4. Hand out Bible Verse Buddies.  Each day at VBS, give kids the key verse of the day.  The first day of VBS, give them a carabiner with a key ring on it to hold the Bible Verse Buddies.  {The best price I’ve been able to find on these is through Oriental Trading.  Make sure you use ebates to get cash back – I’ve gotten several hundred dollars back over the years using this site!}  You can also save all of the bible buddies to give out on night 5 if you’d rather.
