Shipwrecked VBS: DIY Advertising Magnets

Many years, we design postcards and have them printed to advertise VBS.  We pass them out at church and around town, plus we mail them to kids who attended our VBS last year.  This year, we decided to make magnets instead of postcards.  Who doesn’t want an island view on their fridge?!

This year’s VBS theme is Shipwrecked {learn more about the theme here}.  The VBS kits are available now.  All of our VBS resources are designed to be used alongside any of the Group starter kits, although I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the ultimate version with digital.

You can order pre-made business card size magnets, but they’re a lot more expensive than this DIY option.  I got 250 magnets and business cards for about $36 ($16 for business cards; $20 for magnets).  The magnets I used are also much higher quality than some of the pre-made business card magnets I’ve seen.

Supplies:
Adhesive magnets
Business cards (You can order these locally or through a printing company like Vistaprint or Gotprint.  I’ve used several online printers over the years.)

Instructions:

Once you’ve received both your business cards and adhesive magnets, just peel the paper off each magnet and stick one of your business cards on!  This doesn’t take long… I stuck on our 250 magnets in an hour or so while watching tv.

These can be handed out at church, around town, sent in the mail, you name it!

How are you advertising for Shipwrecked VBS?

I am a long-time Vacation Bible School lover.  I’ve lead in several capacities throughout the VBS world and am currently our church’s VBS director.  It is a joy for me to be able to share VBS ideas and resources with others!  I will continue to share VBS ideas here as we prepare for Shipwrecked VBS.  Follow the blog to see more of our ideas and planning!  Please let me know if there are any specific VBS items or ideas you need help with!
