Shipwrecked VBS Planning Journal

A few weeks ago, I saw a facebook post from a Shipwrecked director who found a fun notebook for her VBS planning. The notebook, which I believe was from Walmart, had one of the Shipwrecked bible verses on the front.  I couldn’t find a similar notebook at my local stores, but I was encouraged by her post to find a theme-related notebook that I could use for my VBS planning.  I keep many notes electronically, but sometimes it’s nice to have a physical notebook to jot ideas down… like when you’re in the middle of church (or a work meeting, or lunch) and you have a great VBS idea!

This year’s VBS theme is Shipwrecked {learn more about the theme here}.  The VBS kits are available now.  All of our VBS resources are designed to be used alongside any of the Group starter kits, although I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the ultimate version with digital.

Below are several of the notebooks I found.  I also ordered adhesive tabs and a new package of my favorite pens (the colorful ones, of course).  I’m going to make sections in the notebook for different stations and categories (I’ll definitely make a section for our VBS work day, decorating ideas, etc).

I don’t know about you, but I tend to get SO involved in planning the details of VBS that I forget to take a deep breath and let God work.  Having this visual on the front of my planning notebook is a great reminder to step back, take a look at the big picture and thank God for the chance to serve Him in such an exciting ministry!

I am a long-time Vacation Bible School lover.  I’ve lead in several capacities throughout the VBS world and am currently our church’s VBS director.  It is a joy for me to be able to share VBS ideas and resources with others!  I will continue to share VBS ideas here as we prepare for Shipwrecked VBS.  Follow the blog to see more of our ideas and planning!  Please let me know if there are any specific VBS items or ideas you need help with!
