Group Publishing VBS 2018: SHiPWRECKED

Group Publishing VBS 2018: SHiPWRECKED

Am I the only person who's been waiting on the edge of my seat for the 2018 Group VBS theme reveal?  I mean sure, my "waiting on the edge of my seat" is more of an exhausted slump since our Maker Fun Factory VBS just finished... but still... I'm excited! The "Easy" VBS theme {emphasis on the quotes there - Group calls it easy, not me - haha!} is Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus. The "Holy Land" VBS theme is Babylon: Daniel's Courage in Captivity. The "Weekend" VBS theme has not been announced yet.…Read more …

Gear Floor Decals – Maker Fun Factory VBS

Did you see the Giant Gear Decorations post earlier?  I've had some great feedback and ideas from other VBS leaders and have another table cover-based gear idea to share.  Get excited - this is another decorating for a dollar idea!  We are going to use the table cover method to make floor decals {think stepping stones, except obviously not made of stone}. DIY Xylophone – Maker Fun Factory VBS

Maker Fun Factory is one of my favorite VBS programs in a long time!  One of the things I love is that decorating for Maker Fun Factory is so interactive.  From life-size marble runs to homemade instruments, the possibilities are endless. This post may contain affiliate links.  I earn a small percentage of anything you purchase through these links but you don’t pay anything extra.  Thanks for helping to support Borrowed Blessings! After hunting Pinterest like it's my job, I had an idea list a mile long for interactive VBS decor.  One of…Read more …
DIY Fabric & Ribbon Garland Backdrop

DIY Fabric & Ribbon Garland Backdrop

You know how projects on Pinterest look great until you actually try them and realize that it's not realistic to make a project look pin-worthy?  Think again!  This project was legitimately easy to do and didn't take any sewing skills whatsoever.  The most difficult part was choosing the fabric {not even sort of kidding here}. Materials: -Grosgrain Ribbon {I used 3" wide ribbon in silver, light pink and hot pink.} -Fabric -Paracord -Scissors -Rotary cutter tool -Cutting mat -Yard stick -Lighter -8 foot long 1"x2" board {for hanging} -Spray paint {optional - for 1"x2"…Read more …
Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Rockin’ Tunes

Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Rockin’ Tunes

Our church used Group Publishing's "Cave Quest" VBS curriculum this summer.  I've shared many of our projects, but you may be missing out on a big picture idea of how our spaces looked.  This room was proof that you don't have to spend a lot of time or money to make VBS special for the kids!  Here's how we decorated a super simple music area. Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures - a lot of them are from my cell phone {I'm not sure why my sleep-deprived VBS directing self wasn't…Read more …

Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Preschool Cave Pool

Our church used Group Publishing's "Cave Quest" VBS curriculum this summer.  I've shared many of our projects, but you may be missing out on a big picture idea of how our Preschool Cave Pool space looked.  This area is definitely one of our most elaborately decorated.  The preschoolers have their own program in our gym building.  They come to opening and closing with the big kids, but stay in their building for all other activities.  This works really well for us, since this age can be challenging to keep on a tight schedule. I've…Read more …

Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Imagination Station

Our church used Group Publishing's "Cave Quest" VBS curriculum this summer.  I've shared many of our projects, but you may be missing out on a big picture idea of how our spaces looked. Our Imagination Station room was in one of our classrooms.  This room was proof that you don't have to spend a lot of time or money to make VBS special for the kids!  Here's how we decorated a super simple craft area. Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures - a lot of them are from my cell phone {I'm not…Read more …

Cave Quest VBS: Decorating Spaces – Foyer Entrance

Our church used Group Publishing's "Cave Quest" VBS curriculum this summer.  I've shared many of our projects, but you may be missing out on a big picture idea of how our spaces looked.  When kids entered the church through the main entrance, they came into the foyer.  The foyer was decorated like the inside of a cave with brown paper walls from floor to ceiling. Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures - a lot of them are from my cell phone {I'm not sure why my sleep-deprived VBS directing self wasn't…Read more …
