Pregnancy Update: Gender Reveal

Pregnancy Update: Gender Reveal

My husband and I {okay, mostly me} wanted to splurge since this is our first baby and do an early gender reveal ultrasound!  We went to an elective ultrasound business at 16 weeks to find out the gender of our baby - and we invited our family to join us.  You may have caught on to our baby gender already by me dropping it throughout previous posts, but I just finished editing the ultrasound video. Without further adieu... we are so excited to welcome a baby.... {scroll down for spoiler!} ... ... ...…Read more …
Pregnancy Journal Update: 8 Weeks

Pregnancy Journal Update: 8 Weeks

Date: 4/18/16 *1st trimester* 8 weeks Weight: 120 lbs. (+2 pounds total so far) I had my first real doctor’s appointment! They took urine and blood samples, talked about family medical history and gave me some medicine to help with the nausea {thank you Jesus!}. I sort of feel finally human again, so this is a godsend! We scheduled the first ultrasound, which will be in about 2 ½ weeks and got our official due date – Thanksgiving Day. SYMPTOMS: Increased saliva {hello, sleep drool}, increased armpit sweating {sexy, right?!}, nausea/fatigue aren’t as…Read more …
Why We Decided To Announce Our Pregnancy Early

Why We Decided To Announce Our Pregnancy Early

This was written just after we found out we’re pregnant… but we saved it to post online after we told close friends & family. I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks, 6 days {the day my period was expected to arrive}.  I took a strip test Tuesday evening.  It was positive, but I was in complete shock because we’ve tried for a while now {more on that shortly}.  I didn’t say a word to my husband, then took a digital test the next morning.  It was positive!  I still didn’t tell…Read more …
Pregnancy Journal Update: 5 Weeks

Pregnancy Journal Update: 5 Weeks

Date: 3/28/16 *1st trimester* 5 weeks, 5 days Weight: 119 lbs. I've made it 5 weeks!  Most days, my energy level is somewhere between “normal” {pre-pregnancy/I have energy} and zombie {I’m falling asleep sitting up}. I’m having more crampy feeling… my buddy Google has informed me that this is from the stretching that’s going on inside me…. Lovely. I’ve had really bad headaches two different days this week, so that’s a bummer. I’m trying to figure out if there’s something I can eliminate from my diet to avoid more of these headaches. SYMPTOMS:…Read more …

Pregnancy Update Journal: 4 Weeks

Date: 3/21/16 *1st trimester* 4 weeks, 5 days Weight: 118 lbs. This was written just after we found out we’re pregnant… but we saved it to post online after we told close friends & family. This is our first weekly pregnancy journal! {Fair warning: there’s probably going to be TMI in just about every one of these. Like, 5 seconds ago when I told you my weight.  I guess my warning was a tad late there.} I’ll share my current feelings with you each week and answer the same list of questions. My…Read more …
Tips for Planning a Frugal Wedding

Tips for Planning a Frugal Wedding

Last July, Hubby and I got married.  Our wedding was fantastic and romantic... and cheap!  I've been talking to a few ladies who are planning their weddings lately.  I thought this would be a great time to share some of the ways we managed such a shoestring budget frugal wedding {and, of course, take a little walk down memory lane}! My tips for planning a frugal wedding: 1. Be prepared to think outside the box! Get creative with your ideas.  You’ll save lots of money by NOT buying things labeled “wedding”.  This includes everything…Read more …
Expectations vs Reality

Expectations vs Reality

Hubby and I got married just over a year ago.  Our honeymoon wasn’t a walk on the beach, literally or figuratively.  We got married, then spent our honeymoon attending the wedding of some of Hubby’s good friends in another state.  The only way to financially afford a honeymoon and a cross-country wedding trip in the same year was to make the two trips one – so we did.  We flew out two weeks after our wedding, spent a few days visiting Hubby’s old stompin’ ground {where he went to college}, road tripped for…Read more …
Our Journey to a Simplified Home + Lifestyle

Our Journey to a Simplified Home + Lifestyle

I've moved several times in the last eight years.  I moved to college and back three years, back home, moved in with my fiance, moved back home... you get the idea.  You'd think this many moves would give me reason to reduce my physical belongings... and yet, the amount of STUFF I've amassed continues to grow.  Over the last year, my husband and I have realized that we {mostly I} have WAYYYYY too many belongings.  We have so many physical THINGS that our home never seems to truly be organized or put together.…Read more …
Rules for Dating My Son {Guest Post}

Rules for Dating My Son {Guest Post}

My great friend, mentor and Realtor Libby Zeigler recently searched rules for dating and couldn't find any she liked.  Being the creative momma she is, Libby took it upon herself to write some rules to help young women understand the reason for her spiritually grounded {albeit socially backward} dating philosophy.  I don't have any kids yet, but I love, love, LOVE the heart that shines through in this article.  It is obvious that these parents have put a great amount of love and deep thought into the parameters they have set for their…Read more …
