Roar VBS: Name Tags

Lions and zebras and elephants, oh my… Roar VBS is quickly approaching!  This year’s safari-themed VBS is sure to be an adventure your kiddos will cherish for years to come!

Each year, we design and print our own name tags. It’s the most cost-effective way to create name tags for each crew as well as all our volunteers. Download 20 free printable name tag templates below!

Materials

White Cardstock Paper or Colored Cardstock Paper
Lanyards
ID Sleeves
Paper Cutter
Black Sharpie Markers

Directions

  1. Print name tag templates.  You can print these at your home/church printer or send them to a print shop. I print our name tags at 2″x3″ to fit ID badge sleeves (which are made for tags up to 2.2″x3.3″). I always print the name tags on white cardstock because it is heavier and more durable than plain paper.  You can also print name tags on colored cardstock paper (different colors for different crews).
  2. Cut name tags. There are several name tags per sheet, so you’ll need to use a paper cutter to cut them.  (You could also use scissors, but a paper cutter will save A LOT of time.)
  3. Write names & crew numbers. As you assign kids to each crew, you can write their crew name/number on the tag along with their name.  I use a fine point black sharpie to write on the tags.
  4. Put each name tag in the ID sleeve.  The ID sleeves are quick and easy to use!  We tried laminating one year, but it took so much longer!  These are definitely worth the small price.
  5. Attach a lanyard to the ID sleeve.  You could assign each crew a color of lanyard or let the kids each pick their lanyard.  Since we print different colored name tags for each crew, we let each kid pick the color of their lanyard.

Name Tag Templates

To Use the Templates Above for Your Name Tags:

-Decide which template you’d like to use.
—If you have a color printer: you can use white cardstock and print different colored templates for each crew.
—If you have a black and white printer: you can use colored cardstock and use the same template for every crew (I’d suggest using the first template – the white background with gray print above).

-Save the name tag(s) you’d like to use above (click the picture of the name tag, then once the image opens in a new window choose “save image as”).

-Open the image on your computer and print (right click and choose “print” or just push ctrl+p on your keyboard).

-The pop up screen will let you choose what size to print the template. I use wallet size. You can change the “copies of each picture” at the bottom (so if you choose wallet with 9 per sheet, you want to change this number to 9).

-Print name tags.
