Crew Signs – Maker Fun Factory

Every year, we have opening and closing in the church sanctuary.  Each crew gets 1-2 pews where they’re supposed to stay during opening and closing.  I make some sort of crew sign every year so that kids (and crew guides) know where they should be.  I actually went through several ideas this year, so I’ll share them all with you!  It was the classic Three Little Bears… “no, this sign isn’t quite right”… I’ve included my three ideas below.  Feel free to use or share any of them!

SIMPLE/TRADITIONAL CREW SIGNS

Supplies:
Card stock paper
Laminating machine
Laminating sleeves

For my first sign endeavor this year, I made crew signs with the themed graphics for Maker Fun Factory.  I’ve attached crew signs below for our crew names.  There’s also a blank template below so you can fill in your own crew names!  To download, click the graphic you like.  Once it’s large, you can right click and choose “save as”, then save it to your computer and print at any size.  These crew signs are formatted to fit an 8.5×11″ sheet of paper.

PAPER PLATE CREW SIGNS

Supplies:
Paper plates
Scissors
Permanent marker
Painter’s tape

I really liked the crew signs above, but we’ve done a piece of paper attached to a pole several years, so I decided to mix it up a little.  My next idea was more gear-related.  I had already purchased and cut an entire package of silver paper plates into gear shapes.  I used these gear-shaped plates and wrote each crew’s name on one.

What I didn’t realize was that during our work day, some of my younger helpers (read: kiddos) decided to “help” decorate the plates… so many of them already had designs drawn and I miiiiiight have not realized that until after I labeled and placed several of the plates in the sanctuary.  Anywhoo, these are super easy to attach to the floor, the end of the pew, or a sign post using painter’s tape!

EASY CREW SIGNS

Supplies:
Gears {can be purchased alone or as part of the bulletin board set}
Permanent marker
Painter’s tape

Once I realized I didn’t have enough of the silver gears, I remembered I had some small gears leftover from the classroom set on Oriental Trading!  I got three matching gears for each crew.  One gear got the crew’s name/number written on it, while the other two stayed blank.  I attached all three to the end of the pew using painter’s tape.

Any of these ideas would have worked, so I’m glad my trial-and-error method came up with some good options for crew signs!
