Roar VBS: Giveaway & Prize Ideas

The countdown is ON for VBS 2019!  Roar VBS (from Group Publishing) and In The Wild VBS (from Lifeway VBS) are both safari-themed 2019 bible school programs.  While the content will differ, many decorating and prize ideas will work for either program!  If you’re doing either Roar VBS or In The Wild VBS, check out the giveaway & prize ideas below.  These will work for anything from pre-VBS promotions (trunk or treat, Christmas giveaways, registration prizes, etc) to at VBS (bible verse prizes, attendance winners, etc) to post-VBS (follow-up giveaways).

The article below may contain affiliate links, where I earn a small percentage of your purchase.  Don’t worry – you don’t pay anything extra!  Thanks for helping to keep Borrowed Blessings running.

Animal crackers: What treat says “VBS” better than animal crackers?!  Sam’s Club has large tubs or individual packages available.  (If you order the large tubs, don’t forget bags to divy up the crackers!)  Add a label with your VBS or church information!

Stickers: Order cartoonish stickers or realistic safari animal stickers.  These small stickers (1.5″) could also be added to other items for decoration!  These are one of the least expensive items we found.

Small notepads: These notepads have cute googly eyes!  You could easily attach an address label with your VBS information on the back.

Pencils: What kiddo hasn’t lost most of their pencils at this point in the school year?! These fun animal pencils are great!  (They’re on sale right now too, although that could change at any time.) I bet you could get a small label wrapped around them lengthwise as well.

Pencil top erasers: These animal erasers are another one of the super frugal options.  They’re a useful item for kiddos, too!

Bookmarks: These laminated bookmarks have animal photos on the front and fun facts on the back.  Print your VBS information on a small label and attach it to the bookmark to advertise VBS!

Animal stampers: You could give these animal stampers as prizes/giveaways, or use them at VBS!

Color scratch ornaments: These ornaments are made from color scratch material so kids can design them!  We often use these as a filler activity for kiddos during Christmas program practice.

Toy animals: These animals would be fun for prizes or for a play area at VBS (the set includes some fence pieces and a tree, too)!  Younger and older kiddos alike will enjoy these animals!

Rubber ducks: Give these rubber ducks away as a fun prize, or use them for a carnival/trunk or treat game!

Plastic cups: Order animal themed cups, or design your own personalized VBS cups to hand out!  The personalized cups may actually be less expensive depending on how many you order!

Slap bracelets: 80’s kids rejoice… our beloved slap bracelets are popular once again!

Sunglasses: Check out these safari print sunglasses, available in two sizes for kids & adults.

Mega assortment: If you’d just like a variety of items, check out this mega zoo assortment!  It has a fun variety of items, perfect for a treasure chest.

Treat bags: For a fun VBS advertisement, stuff your giveaways in a treat bag, then print your VBS information on a label and stick it on the bag!  Make sure to include your VBS details: date, time, location, cost and how to register!  Here are three of my favorite treat bag options: 6×9 leopard print, 6×9 zebra print and 5×10 lunch bags.

DIY treat bags: If you’re pinching pennies, order medium or large plain kraft paper bags and add a strip of animal print duct tape down the middle (vertically).  You could also use a sticker on the bag (cartoonish safari animal stickers or realistic safari animal stickers) instead of the duct tape.

I’ll continue adding ideas to my VBS 2019 Amazon wish list throughout the VBS planning season, so check back for even more ideas!
