What happened to Borrowed Blessings?

It’s been months since I posted a single thing… what in the world happened?

I started Borrowed Blessings several years ago when I was sharing our VBS ideas on Facebook and thought a website might be a simpler way to archive our ideas. The name is exactly what it sounds like – a recognition that our blessings are not ours, but truly belong to God… and with that at the core, I decided to dive in and share ideas, inspiration and tutorials, mostly for VBS programs.

I never imagined this little corner of the universe would turn into such a sweet community of leaders, supporting and helping one another. This online space has been so wonderful… it’s given me a place to share my ideas, knowing all the time I invested in our VBS was helping others. That has given me such purpose and reason to continue sharing!

But over the past year (or more), God has really led me to slow down on all I’m doing and focus more on Him, rather than on all I do in pursuit of him. For me, it’s much easier to do and achieve than just to pursue… and that’s not always what we’re called to. This year I realized the best way for me to honor God was to take a step back and not do what I normally do.

It’s been a strangely quiet VBS season for me (okay – let’s clarify… the VBS life has been quiet, not my house. I have young kids – quiet doesn’t exist here). But in this uncomfortable space, I am learning and trying to be obedient.

I am still a HUGE advocate for VBS programs (and the importance of children in the church in general). Please know that I am rooting for you and your VBS this year. I know firsthand how impactful VBS can be for the faith development of children and adults alike.

I love to brainstorm about what this space can continue to be, and how I can continue to serve the VBS community while balancing that with my family responsibilities. I am praying I can come back next year… but I’m not yet to the point of figuring out what that looks like. First and foremost, my priority now is to just BE in this season (can you tell that’s not my strong suit?!).

Blessings to all of you this season!
