Window Painting Activity

My kids needed to get out of the house this weekend for some fresh air (uh, let’s be honest – mama needed some fresh spring air too!). We decided to brighten up our house by painting the front window. This window painting activity was simple to do and I’ve already had neighbors comment how neat it looks from their houses!

I think this is a great activity leading up to Easter to remind people to focus on the cross (aka Jesus and His sacrifice)! This would be fun to do at church with a group of kids too.

Supplies:

Painter’s tape (I taped our front windows with less than half a roll of tape)
Washable paint
Disposable cups
Paint brushes

Instructions:

Use skinny (1″) painter’s tape to make a large cross outline on an exterior door/window.

After the cross is done, use the tape to make smaller triangles.

Put one color of washable paint into each disposable cup. Paint all the sections (we tried to not use the same color in two areas beside each other). Some people add 1-2 drops of dish soap to each cup of paint to make it easier to wash off.

Remove painter’s tape (we waited about an hour to peel the tape off – the paint was tacky dry).

Our family had so much fun window painting at our house! I think it would be a fun activity for our church kiddos, too – especially on the church doors visible from the highway.
