Pregnancy Update Journal: 4 Weeks

Journal - 4 Weeks - BorrowedBlessings.net

Date: 3/21/16
*1st trimester*
4 weeks, 5 days

Weight: 118 lbs.

This was written just after we found out we’re pregnant… but we saved it to post online after we told close friends & family.

This is our first weekly pregnancy journal! {Fair warning: there’s probably going to be TMI in just about every one of these. Like, 5 seconds ago when I told you my weight.  I guess my warning was a tad late there.} I’ll share my current feelings with you each week and answer the same list of questions. My sweet hubby has also agreed to a fun, fill-in-the-blank weekly activity. If you know him, you know he’s totally doing this just to be extra sweet to my pregnant self.

Overall, I am feeling really good! I had a few symptoms before I realized I was pregnant… like being super tired, but I blamed that on Daylight Savings Time. I also had a few weird dreams before I even got my positive test {I guess that was technically at 3 weeks, but this is my first journal}. We got to tell our immediate families about the baby this week! There are days where I have “normal” energy levels, but most days I’m at least somewhat tired… and a few days I’ve been tired enough to fall asleep sitting up. Naps are a lifesaver when I can get them {like Sunday, when I took a 2 hour afternoon nap}. This mom brain thing is no joke! Words I should clearly know {names, etc} are just gone. Hopefully my brain will come back at some point!

SYMPTOMS: Fatigue!, Nausea (It’s not overwhelming nausea like when you have the flu or are sick… but more of a subtle nausea that’s around a lot of the time), really light cramps, metallic taste in my mouth, crazy dreams
MILESTONES: This week, we announced the pregnancy to our immediate families, our employers and a few close friends.
BABY IS THE SIZE OF A poppy seed (itty bitty).
VERSES/QUOTES THAT HAVE STUCK WITH ME THIS WEEK: “For this child I have prayed, and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart.” -1 Samuel 1:27
OTHER NOTES/MEMORIES: I don’t really feel pregnant yet. I definitely feel bloated and tired. My boss {who has 5 children} asked if I felt any different yet. I told him I was mainly just tired… he walked away giggling. That can’t be a good sign of the things to come!

{FOR MOMMY} I am….
LOVING this experience… the fact that I get to know what it’s like to grow a baby. It took us a while to get pregnant and we’ve always been passionate about adoption… so I’m super thankful for this!
FEELING blessed.
THINKING… barely (I am super forgetful and cloudy brained already – oy!)
EATING all the time. I’m not having strong cravings, except hunger, hunger and hunger.
SLEEPING LOTS! I took a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon and it was glorious!
DREAMING weird things already! In the few days before I found out I was pregnant, I had 2 dreams that my boss’s wife was having seizures… so that was strange.
ANTICIPATING everything!
SAVORING my pants fitting.
MAKING sure to rest every chance I get.
WORKING on finishing our home!
BOY OR GIRL? I’ve had the gut feeling it was a boy all along (and by all along, I do mean for almost a whole week now! Haha)

{FOR DADDY} I am….
LOVING my wife’s baby maker.
FEELING bipolar… sometimes I can’t help but have the biggest grin on my face and two minutes later my face goes pale and I have cold sweats.
THINKING about what the world is going to do when another one of either of us is around!
EATING pretty much everything that I see and somehow some things before I see them.
SLEEPING like a selfish person. Kara has been explicit about my cover hogging lately.
DREAMING in the day time… more often than usual.
ANTICIPATING the next meal.
SAVORING food, and Kara’s shaved legs that I know will be nonexistent in a few months… Oh wait, I think that should have gone with the dreaming one.
MAKING a list of things that my son or daughter and I can blow up with tannerite, starting with the old toilet sitting in our yard.
PREPARING a house for our kid to grow up in
WORKING on some ideas for cool projects around the house such as a crib with a bench built around it and some drawers under it for diapers and clothes… and toys… and maybe a trap door under the crib for a slide when the kid gets older. Don’t tell Kara… oops.
BOY OR GIRL? What is this boy or girl thing? It just upgraded from a zygote to an embryo and I am supposed to think about what parts it’ll have?

Thanks for following along on our pregnancy journey!  4 weeks down, 36 weeks to go {give or take a few weeks}.  Of course, these early weeks are crucial for viability and development of our baby.  We would love to have your prayers over the health and development of our little peanut!  Check out all of our pregnancy updates, then follow Borrowed Blessings at the top of the page.
