Roar VBS: DIY Safari Jeep Decor

We made an affordable and (fairly) simple safari jeep for our Roar VBS registration table! Check out the steps we followed using only supplies we already had on hand…

Supplies:

2 foam/cardboard display boards (or a large piece of cardboard)
Yellow large paper roll
Orange construction paper
-Silver posterboard (you could also use aluminum foil or wrapping paper)
Black large roll paper
2 disposable paper plates
Giant black marker
Scissors
Clear packing tape
Double stick tape

Instructions:

There are times when I get great photos of every step of the project, then there are projects like this… where I forget to take any pictures until the end! Thankfully this is simple enough it’ll make sense. 🙂

-Cover cardboard or foam board using yellow large paper and clear packing tape. We used two cardboard display boards taped together. The fold-out pieces on the ends of the display board help the jeep to stand up on its own.

Cut oblong strips out of silver posterboard or aluminum foil to make the grill of the jeep.

-Use double stick tape to attach a large piece of black paper to the back of the silver posterboard (which now has holes cut in it). Basically you’ll have the silver posterboard on top of the black piece of paper.

-Use a giant black marker to color around the edge of the back side of two paper plates. Attach the plates to the yellow jeep using double stick tape. These are the two headlights.

-Cut small circles out of orange construction paper. Use tape to attach them to the jeep under the headlights (these are the daytime running lights).

-We covered our welcome center with yellow paper (attached with painter’s tape), then sat the completed jeep in front of the welcome center and taped it to the yellow paper. Check out photos of the rest of our foyer here.
