Pregnancy Journal Update: 6 Weeks
Date: 4/5/16
*1st trimester*
6 weeks
Weight: I DON’T EVEN CARE lbs.
It is incredible that just two weeks ago baby was the size of a poppy seed but this week has grown to the size of a blueberry. God is truly incredible… and I am feeling especially connected to the concept of God making beautiful things out of the dust! In the past few weeks, the baby has gone from a miniscule ball of cells to an adorable little tadpole with functioning body systems {including a heartbeat}. Isn’t that incredible?! In my moments of nausea and discomfort, I try to stay focused on gratitude… grateful for God letting me carry this child, grateful for the growth and development that’s happening, grateful for the amazing support system we have in our families, church families and friends.
UPDATE: So, farther into my official Pinterest research, I found that baby is the size of a blueberry or a ladybug this week. Alright, either some of y’all have been breeding monster ladybugs or you eat some tiny blueberries! That, or there’s just a lot of variance in the size of the tadpole at this stage. I’m going with the monster ladybug breeding theory.
A few weeks ago I was eating every few hours {and perfectly happy doing so}. I’ve now transitioned to the stage where water makes me nauseous… as do crackers, cheeseburgers and basically everything I could possibly eat. {I guess this is what they call “morning sickness”, huh?} This makes eating not very fun. Also, there are those people who are all about pregnancy health and eating well during pregnancy. That’s wonderful for them. For the time being, though, I can eat a Wendy’s frosty and sort of not feel completely like death, so you better believe I’ve been to Wendy’s twice so far this week {and it’s only Tuesday}. Basically, I haven’t eaten my leafy greens or anything else I’ve pinned on my Pregnancy Health board and I don’t even sort of care.
On a more positive note, I still start every day by thanking God for the chance to carry this baby today. My cousin and I were discussing the daunting fact that there is a whole lot of time left in this pregnancy and then I still have to tackle the whole birthing a baby thing. I’m pretty sure those AA people came up with the “one day at a time” thing and that’s basically where I live. I’m thankful for today {and sort of ignoring anything scary that could happen tomorrow}. One day at a time, y’all!
SYMPTOMS: Nausea {lots}, fatigue {lots}, sore breasts, dry heaving
MILESTONES: This week I had the fun milestone of dry heaving for the first time during pregnancy…. so that was fun.
BABY IS THE SIZE OF A blueberry {or a ladybug, depending on your preference}.
VERSES/QUOTES THAT HAVE STUCK WITH ME THIS WEEK: The song “Beautiful Things” by Gungor… it has always been special to me but is even more of a tear jerker now!
Thanks for following along on our pregnancy journey! 6 weeks down, 34 weeks to go {give or take a few weeks}. Of course, these early weeks are crucial for viability and development of our baby. We would love to have your prayers over the health and development of our little peanut! Check out all of our pregnancy updates and follow Borrowed Blessings at the top of the page.
