Pregnancy Journal Update: 15 Weeks

This update is almost a week late being posted... sorry for the delay!  With all of the Vacation Bible School madness going on, I haven't had a moment to breathe.  VBS was a success, so I'm now catching up! Date: 6/7/16 *2nd trimester* 15 weeks I am finally feeling that second trimester boost of energy! I’ve stayed up several nights past 10pm {crazy, I know, right?!}. This week is Vacation Bible School at church. I’m so thankful for the extra energy – I don’t know how I would have done this during the first…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 14 Weeks

This update is a few weeks late being posted... sorry for the delay!  With all of the Vacation Bible School madness going on, I haven't had a moment to breathe.  VBS was a success, so I'm now catching up! Date: 5/31/16 *2nd trimester* 14 weeks Am I glowing yet?! The second trimester perks haven’t kicked in a ton. I’m still taking nausea medicine and fighting the urge to puke {only occasionally, thankfully}. Our church’s Vacation Bible School is next week, so I’m spending most of my free time focused on that! I did…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 13 Weeks

Date: 5/24/16 *1st trimester* 13 weeks, 6 days I can’t believe this is the LAST day and last journal entry of my first trimester! It has flown right by! I’m still pretty tired and nauseous a lot of the time, but that “glow” is supposed to kick in anytime now, right?! Mom and I went to a community yard sale last weekend and got a ton of adorable baby clothes! Now we just have to wait for the gender reveal to find out what we need to get rid of and what we…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 12 Weeks

Date: 5/17/16 *1st trimester* 12 weeks, 6 days Weight: 116 lbs. {This is a couple of pounds from where I started out. However, I’m consistently getting physically bigger and the doctor said it’s completely normal to gain and lose for the first several months.} I can’t believe the first trimester is almost finished! Some people say the second trimester starts at 13 weeks, but most things I’ve seen say 14 weeks. Only one more week of first trimester. My mom and I went to the Dorel factory sale this week, where we…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 11 Weeks

Date: 5/10/16 *1st trimester* 11 weeks We’re at the end of 11 weeks already – WHAAAT?! This week has flown by. I celebrated my first Mother’s Day as a pregnant mama… which I only half felt like I was really deserving Mother’s Day since the baby isn’t here yet… whatever, though, we’re celebrating! I also celebrated my birthday with extended family and got to rock my favorite new mama bear tank top from Little Bit’s Love!  We have our first ultrasound later this week so I am really looking forward to getting to…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 10 Weeks

Date: 5/3/16 *1st trimester* 10 weeks {double digits - woop woop!} SYMPTOMS: a little sciatica/nerve pain, headaches, fatigue, nausea (& a little vomiting) BABY IS THE SIZE OF A prune {or a cottonball}. Last time I was at the OBGYN {2ish weeks ago}, they suggested popsicles and frozen items to stay hydrated if water makes you nauseous. After my bout of vomiting from drinking water a few days before the appointment, I appreciated the suggestions! The first few weeks of this pregnancy I was drinking 80-100 ounces of water per day. I’m lucky…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 9 Weeks

Date: 4/26/16 *1st trimester* 9 weeks SYMPTOMS: Lower back pinching/pain, fatigue, nausea, MILESTONES: I had someone want to touch my belly for the first time this week! I told her I’m pretty sure the tiny bump is still just French fries and cokes. BABY IS THE SIZE OF A gumball. This week I turned 27! It’s amazing how a baby changes things – even when they’re still itty bitty. I barely remembered it was my birthday {I’ve had my days mixed up several times lately}. We celebrated my birthday dinner with immediate family…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 8 Weeks

Date: 4/18/16 *1st trimester* 8 weeks Weight: 120 lbs. (+2 pounds total so far) I had my first real doctor’s appointment! They took urine and blood samples, talked about family medical history and gave me some medicine to help with the nausea {thank you Jesus!}. I sort of feel finally human again, so this is a godsend! We scheduled the first ultrasound, which will be in about 2 ½ weeks and got our official due date – Thanksgiving Day. SYMPTOMS: Increased saliva {hello, sleep drool}, increased armpit sweating {sexy, right?!}, nausea/fatigue aren’t as…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 7 Weeks

Date: 4/12/16 *1st trimester* 7 weeks This week kicked my baby-loving butt!  With every week that passes, I feel more/new/different symptoms and get on a different food kick. It’s still very surreal that we’re actually, finally having a baby {in November, which feels like years away at this point}. I did find a new pair of nice winter boots on clearance and bought them… because next winter, I’ll be carrying a baby either inside me or in a car seat… so we don’t want mama slipping and falling! Hence, new boots, so good…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 6 Weeks

Date: 4/5/16 *1st trimester* 6 weeks Weight: I DON’T EVEN CARE lbs. It is incredible that just two weeks ago baby was the size of a poppy seed but this week has grown to the size of a blueberry. God is truly incredible… and I am feeling especially connected to the concept of God making beautiful things out of the dust! In the past few weeks, the baby has gone from a miniscule ball of cells to an adorable little tadpole with functioning body systems {including a heartbeat}. Isn’t that incredible?! In my…Read more …
Why We Decided To Announce Our Pregnancy Early

Why We Decided To Announce Our Pregnancy Early

This was written just after we found out we’re pregnant… but we saved it to post online after we told close friends & family. I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks, 6 days {the day my period was expected to arrive}.  I took a strip test Tuesday evening.  It was positive, but I was in complete shock because we’ve tried for a while now {more on that shortly}.  I didn’t say a word to my husband, then took a digital test the next morning.  It was positive!  I still didn’t tell…Read more …

Pregnancy Journal Update: 5 Weeks

Date: 3/28/16 *1st trimester* 5 weeks, 5 days Weight: 119 lbs. I've made it 5 weeks!  Most days, my energy level is somewhere between “normal” {pre-pregnancy/I have energy} and zombie {I’m falling asleep sitting up}. I’m having more crampy feeling… my buddy Google has informed me that this is from the stretching that’s going on inside me…. Lovely. I’ve had really bad headaches two different days this week, so that’s a bummer. I’m trying to figure out if there’s something I can eliminate from my diet to avoid more of these headaches. SYMPTOMS:…Read more …

This is our first weekly pregnancy journal! {Fair warning: there’s probably going to be TMI in just about every one of these. Like, 5 seconds ago when I told you my weight.  I guess my warning was a tad late there.} I’ll share my current feelings with you each week and answer the same list of questions. My…Read more …

I am {finally} PREGNANT!

We are pregnant {or I am pregnant... I never really know what to say}! This was written just after we found out we’re pregnant… but we saved it to post online after we told close friends & family. Last fall, I shared that I had some BIG NEWS with y’all and many of you said you thought we were pregnant before you read the article. {Spoiler alert: We weren’t. We bought a house.} We actually, really, for-real are now pregnant and are so excited to share the exciting news with you all! No,…Read more …

All the Pregnancy Updates

We are so excited to finally share our pregnancy with you {except the fatigue - I don't want to share that!}.  I wanted to create one page with all of our pregnancy updates so that you can easily read all about our precious baby!  Our baby is due around Thanksgiving 2016 {depending on which calculator is used, it's either the day before Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving day}.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and we have SO MUCH more to be thankful for this year!  We were married and trying to conceive for about a…Read more …

Our Journey Decluttering with Konmari: Books

This post may contain affiliate links.  Learn more here. A few months ago I wrote about how we were going to declutter our home and lives before moving.  From October 19 to about February 13, I didn’t declutter or simplify much {by not much – I mean I did the bathroom the first day and then didn’t do anything else for about 4 months}.  So, it’s going well obviously.  I joined a few decluttering/Konmari groups on facebook for accountability and research.  I suppose we could categorize the first four months of this process…Read more …

Refinishing our Kitchen Cabinets – The Good, The Bad and The VERY Ugly

This post contains affiliate links, which means if you click through and purchase something I get a very small percentage.  For more information on how I use affiliate links, visit sponsorship & disclosure. You may remember that I refinished our dining room table as practice for the kitchen cabinets.  We’re DIYing our home renovation and didn’t have it in the budget to buy new kitchen cabinets.  Armed with Pinterest and HGTV, I set out to conquer refinishing the cabinets myself.  Boy, was I in for quite the adventure! CABINET DOORS The first thing I…Read more …

Refinishing a Dining Room Table with Polyshades

This post may contain affiliate links, where I earn a very small percentage of any purchase you make.  Thank you for supporting Borrowed Blessings! When we bought our house, it had oak builder grade cabinets.  They were still in good condition and {more importantly} our budget wasn’t going to allow for new cabinets.  No worries though - I’d done hours and hours of very technical research {ie a cocktail of Pinterest and HGTV} so I was ready to take on refinishing the cabinets! Because I know myself and because I had never refinished…Read more …

Become an Amazon Product Reviewer: The Basics

Writing reviews on Amazon is a great way to earn free or nearly free products.  Wait, earn?  Yep, you read right.  Before you jump right into reviewing Amazon products, please educate yourself on the process and what an Amazon review should contain. Let’s be real here for just a minute.  If you’re thinking you’re going to get thousands of dollars of products for free with no effort and minimal time, you’re sadly mistaken.  This isn’t one of those “too good to be true” scenarios, but an honest way to work and earn free…Read more …

Become an Amazon Product Reviewer with Tomoson

I recently shared with a group of frugal friends that I am an Amazon product reviewer and they wanted the inside scoop.  Last year when we bought our house, I started contacting companies directly on Amazon.  I offered to write a review of their product on Amazon and on my blog… in exchange, they would provide me with the item free of charge.  Several companies wanted me to review their products {you can read my surprised post on that here}.  Sometime last fall, I figured there had to be a better way for Amazon…Read more …
